Wintergreen Animal Hospital
is equipped to handle most small animal emergencies.  Please call our office at (814)825-6735 prior to arrival so that we may best prepare for your situation.

 

 

 

 

 

Contact the Northwest PA Pet Emergency Center at (814) 866-5920.  They are open nights, weekends, and holidays when our office is closed.  The Emergency Center is located at  the corner of 38th and Cherry Streets next to the JMC Ice arena.
(Near the Erie Zoo entrance.)

Wellness Visits  
Wellness Visits are important to your pet's continuing good health to assess current medical status and help determine any possible "hidden" health threats so they may be addressed early.  
   
Immunizations and Preventive Care  
We care about your pet's good health!  We will discuss with you recommendations for keeping your pet and family healthy and happy by preventing many common diseases.  
   
Spay and Neuter Surgeries  
Wintergreen Animal Hospital is proud to offer the latest in surgical anesthesia and monitoring practices to ensure that each pet always receives appropriate pain medication and the utmost in TLC while they are in our care!  
   
LASER Surgeries  
Our New LASER unit can be employed for many routine surgeries resulting in minimal blood loss, less swelling, and less pain for your pet.  
   
LASER Declaws  
An example of how LASER surgery has greatly improved the efficiency and efficacy of a routine surgery.  Choosing the LASER surgery option for declawing is a less invasive procedure which typically results in a faster, easier recovery for the feline patient.  
   
Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgeries  
The veterinary doctors on staff at Wintergreen are capable of performing most types of soft tissue surgeries and many types of complicated orthopedic surgeries.  We maintain professional relationships with board-certified surgeons for those a-typical surgeries requiring additional levels of expertise.  
   
Advanced Anesthesia Monitoring  
We are dedicated to the well-being and comfort of your beloved pet while in our care at the hospital!  Each patient's vital signs, EKG (electro-cardiogram), blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and intraveous (IV) catheters and IV fluids are constantly monitored, adjusted, and charted throughout the entire surgical procedure.  
   
Behavioral Consultations and Puppy Classes  
Puppy classes are important for proper socialization and basic obedience.  These classes are offered on-site on a regular basis by our dog trainer.  Please call our office at 814.825.6735 for the next available class.  In addition, our veterinarians are well-versed and able to assist you with most common pet behavioral problems.  
   
Cardiology  

We offer cardiac x-ray and EKG services and stay current with up-to-date treatments and diagnostics to help keep your pet healthy.

 

 

Chemotherapy

Our furry friendshandle chemotherapy with far fewer side effects than people do.  Dr. Amanda treats a wide range of cancers with the latest in chemotherapy protocols.

 

 
Dentistry and Dental X-ray  
Dental disease puts stress on your pet's immune system and can weaken the liver, kidneys, and heart.  Preventive care can add years and quality to your pet's life.  Our dental services include teeth cleaning, polishing, dental x-rays, tooth extractions, and oral surgery.  Our doctors and staff have received advanced training in dental procedures to ensure that your pet receives the best possible care.  
   
Dermatology  
Itching and scratching can wreak havoc on you and your pet!  We can help!  
   
Emergency and Critical Care  
Wintergreen Animal Hospital will provide your pet with the best in medical care.  In addition, we can handle most critical care patients.  We maintain a professional relationship with veterinary specialists and specialty hospitals in the event your pet requires even more attention.  However, if you require emergency care for your pet when our office is closed, please take note of the Emergency Center information at the top of this page.
 
   
Exotics and Reptile Medicine  
We are a full-service equal-opportunity veterinary hospital!  Dr. John has a special interest in reptiles, while Dr. Amanda treats other exotic animals and pocket pets.  
   
 Internal Medicine  
 We manage all types of internal medicine cases including diabetes and thyroid disease.  
   
Pain and Arthritis Management  
Our doctors take pain relief very seriously.  We employ preventive pain managemnt strategies using local anesthetics, narcotics, and anti-inflammatory drugs.  Appropriate medication is dispensed for surgical procedures, wounds, dental extractions, and senior arthritis management.  
   
Full In-House Laboratory
 
Our extensive in-house laboratory gives us point-of-care diagnostic abilities in minutes when we're treating sick or injured pets, and allows us to properly evaluate every surgical case prior to anesthesia.  
   
Well-equipped Pharmacy  
We maintain a large inventory of pharmacologicals, vitamins, shampoos; and, heartworm, flea, and tick preventives to meet the needs of your pet.  
   
Radiology  
Our high-frequency x-ray machine produces the finest quality radiographs, allowing our doctors to see fine detail and subtle changes.  
   
Adoption  
Wintergreen Animal Hospital works extensively with Because You Care, Inc., and we often sponsor cats for adoption at our clinic.
